Other artists >> Thomas Hoyne

Interest in the romance of the great sailing and fishing vessels, as well as the training he received in the navy, inspired Thimas Hoyne.  His understanding of the ocean, currents, waves, and wind are successfully rendered in each of his maritime paintings.  He became a successful illustrator, and his work includes portraits of 16 American winners of the Nobel Prize for Science.  He won awards for his work in acknowledgement of his documentation of our maritime heritage.  Thomas Hoyne died in 1983.
